Frequently asked questions
The questions travellers send us most often, answered without marketing varnish.
How far in advance should I book? +
For travel between May and September, four to six months. Machu Picchu entry slots and Inca Trail permits are capped by the Peruvian government and the best times sell out first. For the north and the Amazon, two months is usually enough.
Are your prices per person? +
Yes, and they assume two travellers sharing a room. Solo travellers pay a single supplement; groups of four or more usually pay less per person. Your written quotation always shows the real figure for your party.
What is not included in the price? +
International flights, travel insurance, visas, meals not listed in the itinerary, tips and personal expenses. We state this explicitly in every quotation rather than burying it in small print.
Do I need to worry about altitude? +
It deserves respect, not worry. Cusco sits at 3,400 metres and altitude affects people independently of fitness. We build itineraries that sleep lower first — the Sacred Valley before Cusco — which solves the problem for most travellers. If you have cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, consult your doctor before booking.
Is Peru safe? +
For travellers taking normal urban precautions, yes. We use vetted drivers and licensed guides, avoid night road travel in the mountains, and monitor conditions such as strikes and road closures that can affect routes. Your specialist is reachable throughout your trip.
Can you organise travel for families with young children? +
Yes, and we pace them differently: shorter driving days, lower altitude where possible, and activities that work for the adults too. Tell us the children’s ages at the first message and we will design around them.
How do payments work? +
A deposit confirms the booking, and the balance is due before departure on the date stated in your quotation. Some components — Machu Picchu tickets, flights, rail — require full payment when booked, because they are issued in your name and are non-transferable.
What if something goes wrong during the trip? +
Call your specialist, not a central call centre. We are a small team in the same time zone, and most problems — a delayed flight, a closed road, a hotel that disappoints — are solved the same day.
